North Carolina Tarheels Basketball

uncteam.jpg

The North Carolina Tarheels are ready to return to the NCAA Championship this year.  Last Year they had the heart and now they have the Depth.  The Tarheels had the second best recruiting class come in this year.  Tyler Hansbrough is now one more year mature and ready to lead this team to the championship.  This is the year and there is nothing stopping them.  Roy Williams has a great team this year and anything less than a championship will be a disappointment.

The Tarheels are off to a quick start this year.  They had a devastating loss to Gonazaga in the NIT but rebounded and destroyed Tennesee in the 3rd place game.  Eventhough it's early Tyler Hansbrough is showing why the Tarheels are ranked in the top 10 this year.  He is averaging over 20 points per game and along with Freshman sensation Brandon Wright may form the best Front court in College.

This team under Roy Williams may be young but they are exciting to watch.  With true freshman Wayne Ellington, Ty Lawson and Brandan Wright the Tarheels have great depth.  Along with returning Senior Reyshawn Terry this team is looking like they are going to make a run.  As a young team they are going to make mistakes but that is why there is the Preseason.  By tournament time I can assure you that they will be ready.  With a small younger team last year North Carolina surprised a lot of critics by going as far into the tournament as they did.  This year they are one of the favorites.  This year Roy WIlliams will bring the Tarheels back to the promise land like he did in 2005.

In the News

The Tarheels are off to a hot start at 4-1 this season.  They have a huge upcoming game against the Ohio State Buckeyes on November 29.  Ohio State is the number 1 ranked team in the country.  The Tarheels have lucked out because the Buckeyes are missing their future First Round Draft Pick, 7 foot Greg Oden.  Without Oden the Tarheels should be able to dominate from inside the paint.  Last Night The North Carolina Tarheels beat Ohio State 97-89.   Hansborough finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds.  Freshman Wayne Ellington also finished with a career high 19 points on his 19th birthday.  Freshman sensations Ty Lawson and Brandan Wright continued their strong play and helped lead the Tarheels to victory over the number 1 ranked Buckeyes.
